NTP and windows2000

Thanks for your help. The problem is this.

I have 3 domain controlers DC1 ,CD2 CD3. currently whenever I do a NET TIME on any DC or pc on the network I get back

Current time at \\DC3 is 2/5/2004 4:55 PM

The problem is that I want it to sync with \\DC1 . And I want DC1 to be the authoratative server and look to the internet for its time. So what I have done so far is this .

On DC1 I have entere

net time /setsntp:ntp2.usno.navy.mil tock.usno.navy.mil

Then on DC2 and DC3 and my pc itself I have entered the following to try to make them look to DC1 as their time serve

NET TIME \\DC1 /SET

then it replys back saying

Current time at \\DC1 is 2/

The current local clock is 2/6/2004 8:36 A

Do you want to set the local computer's time to match the

time at \\DC1? (Y/N) [Y]:

and I say Yes and it says the command completed sucessfully... The problem is then when I do a NET TIME again it says

Current time at \\DC3 is 2/6/2004 8:36 AM

so it is still looking at DC3 instead of DC1. So for some reason DC3 is acting as the autoratative server. I have read the following but it has not helped.

One thing I thought was the \\DC3 name itself is a WINS name so i tried flushing WINS becuase I would expact it to be a FQDN instead of a NETBIOS name .... well that is all I have. Thanks for your interest and any asssistance you can give me

Which machine holds the PDC Emulator role? This machine is the
definitive time source for the Domain. You should transfer the PDC
Emulator role to DC1, if it is on DC3. If it is already on DC1 try
transferring it away (to DC3) waiting a couple of hours and then
transferring it back.

Cheers,
