I am trying to make a backup copy of a dvd, but when I
try to copy the original files to my hard drive I am
getting the following message:
"Write Error: only NTFS file system supports files
larger than 4GB"
I am running Windows XP and my hard drive has well over 4
GB of free space available for the files. Doesn't XP use
the NTFS file system anyway?

It means that your WinXP platform is using FAT32 on the hard disk. You need to convert it
to NTFS to deal with any files larger than 4GB in size.

START|RUN
Type "msinfo32" <enter> (no quotes)

Expand the Components, then the Storage tree and click on DRIVES.
The file system being used will be listed in the righthand pane.

There is a utility in XP that will convert from FAT to NTFS.
