ntfs error check

Hi,

My PC was turned off without shutting down. Now the blue screen always
appears to do an file system check unless you cancel it.
I let it do it but on step 3 it seems to crash all the time.
How can i stop this from happening.

Otherwise the PC works fine.

Hi,

Whenever i get a reply with MS instructions I tend to get concerned, as it
probably isn't going to be exactly what I need.

Now my PC still starts if I choose not to run the chkdsk , but why does the
option it come up in the first place. The MS are for a pc that won't boot at
all and has specific error messages which I have none of these problems.

There is no way I am going to touch my registry until it seems specific to
my problem.

That's a pretty bizarre conclusion about MS instructions considering
it's their operating system. What has happened is the dirty bit has
been set on that disk volume and you need to reset it.

If you don't want to follow the MS instructions, then Google for "remove
Chkdsk dirty bit" and read the information at the various links that
show up.

The problem with KB 316506 is that it gives the impression that it is
resolving a problem caused by an HP Scanner. It is only when you
read the Article very carefully "This issue can occur if the System
registry hive or the Software registry hive is damaged" that you realise
that
the scanner is not the only cause of the problem being resolved.

If the writer of the KB Article has mentioned some events which lead
to a damaged registry hive it would have the Article more understandable.
I imagine an incorrect Shutdown is one of the more common causes.
