ntdsutil command error

I'm typing,
ntdsutil enter
Ldap policies enter
connections enter
connect to servername
show value

I'm trying to view settings. When I type the servers name
I get this error: error 80070057 parsing input illegal -
syntax Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you must write

connect to server name_of_your_dc

where name_of_your_dc is a hostname of one of your DC's.
