ntdll.dll error with sp2

J

jack

just got the daughter an used computer - didn't have sp2 on it,
installed without a burp (altho it took 4 hrs!!).

I see in add/remove sp2 is now listed

the popup blocker is there off IE
showing it has sp2 now

but when you turn the machine on, you get a ntdll.dll error.....

goes away after 4-5 min.

Any ideas please and much thanks :):)

Hi Jack,
You have a hardware problem, or your boot loader is missing.
Try to look in the event Viewer for any error messages can shed some light
on the causer of this error.
On how to access the event Viewer do the following:
Open a run command and type in:
eventvwr.msc click [OK]
There double click the error messages (s) to get more info about it and you
can copy and past in your next post.
Also try to see if your power supply is Okay!.

nass, good Monday a.m. :):) At least it is where I live LOL

Can't get past perpetual safeboot

Can't get into choices of safemode with F8....turn it on, it just goes
to bluescreen.....

Did nothing but turn it on a couple times, then it autom went to
bluescreen/7B error , have turned it on about 4 more times, just goes
to bluescreen.

Previous owner thought (yeh right) he had gone in and marked /safeboot.

so it is like this forever???

Dont know if this is where I take a sledgehammer to it LOL or not

Appreciate any more info what to do from here.
Easier to just replace the _____??_____________ or what would you
suggest
to get out of this forever mode.

I well start the computer in Recovery Console and try to copy the DLL to
this path:
%SystemRoot%\System32\<File here>
Then rebuild the Bootloader, by FIXMBR command or BootCFG /Rebuild
Bottom line if it second hand I will make clean Install for the Operating
system as you don't know the previous owner what have been accessing on this
or is it will be healthy computer.
Test the hard drive health by downloading the Diagnostic tools for it from
the manufr and run it to see if it okay or will be a pain in the? when you
perform clean installation.
If you want to experiments hook this Drive as slave on your other computer
and scan it first for Viruses and malwares and see how clean it is and you
can poke around (it is yours now).
