I want to backup to tapes but want to rotate out the tapes my self. In 2000
there was a switch to use any tape available. How do I do that in XP?
thanks,
Rogue

Do people REALLY still use tape these days? An external HDD is FAR
superior....

Plus, I think you'll find a USB hard drive is far cheaper than tapes per
gigabit.

I know the paranoia; I have a RAIDARRAY, two hard drives write to both
drives whatever I do. One goes bad, replace the bad, it updates and on I go.
Then I backup once a month to a network drive. And for the very important
files I also make a backup copy in a password protected folder at my ISP.

I'd say the first step to ensure data protection is to have a good USB.
Mother nature is probably the greatest cause of data loss. (Not counting the
human at the keyboard - Oppppsss! I just deleted WHAT!? :)

Just to answer your question and not suggest another way to backup
I thinkhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/314844
should help.. It says it's for XP too although i don't have a PC with XP to
try it on.

that was exactly what I was looking for thank you very much...
