NT Backup Utility Output File Size

I see from several comments on this newsgroup that customers are suggested to
reformat large drives at NTFS when the backup job will create output files
larger than 4GB. Is it not possible to tell the NTBackup utility to create
multiple output files, less than 4GB in size, and just create multiple files
for each job as needed? I would really like to use the Windows Backup
Utility, as is seems to be faster than third party utilities, but I would
like to leave the external disk I am using to hold the backups formatted as
FAT32. Also, I would like to occasionally copy the backups to DVD-RW disks
for archival, and the 4GB size is great for that.

NtBackup does not natively backup to DVDs so files cannot be 'split' by
ntbackup. There is, however, a third party program (Firestreamer) that
integrates seamlessly with ntbackup and allows backup by ntbackup directly
to DVDs.

I don't want to backup directly to DVDs. I guess I was not clear. What
I want to do is to backup to my external hard disk and then on a periodic
basis, duplicate the backup files onto DVDs to keep a historical archive.
Similar to how professional environmnets run disk-to-disk-to-tape backups.
Since this is just my home environment, I want to backup my home linux server
to an external hard disk attached to my workstation. Then once or twice a
year, copy the backup files from the external hard disk to DVDs for an
archive.

I will look at filestreamer and see if this will help. Should I assume
that NTBackup does not have any ability to split the output files on its own?
