nslookup question

After i perform nslookup to my domain name , how come my isp name
server still not yet cache it ? Btw how come sometimes when i use the
server command it returns timeout but if without then it is ok ? pls
advise

nslookup
server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
set q=mx
mydomain name

Not really sure what your question is here.

You've registered your domain name, set up a DNS server etc?

Wait at least 48 hours then try again...
