Notification Blocking Not Implemented

The much hyped Microsoft beta for anti-spyware/anti-
malware came with assurance that one could change a
registry setting to prevent notifications back to
Microsoft -- a fair feature to have.

However, after installation on three systems -- NONE OF
THESE SYSTEMS HAVE THE NECESSARY REGISTRY KEY AND VALUE
THAT NEEDS TO BE RESET.

I've modified work's firewall / router ACLs to block the
ports and addresses to be consistent with corporate
security policy. It's not what we want, we only want
selected non-production PCs to report back notifications.

When will Microsoft issue fix this missing registry key?

not sure if I understood you correctly but are you talking
about running it in a cooporate/business environment
(since you mentioned production PCs)? I think this
AntiSpyware version is more for home users thus there
shouldn't be any privacy issues. MS is also planning to
release a cooporate version which probably has more
feature including the one you mentioned so that companies
can be assured that nothing is sent out.

Can you give us an authoritative pointer to information about this registry
key? I've heard no such information about this beta.

There IS such a key for the Malicious Software Removal tool, as described in
this KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891716

That article, and the mechanism described there, has nothing to do with
Microsoft Antispyware--they are completely different products.
