When I first got the pc, the notification area in the
task bar showed unused items when I clicked the arrows
alongside. This is now the problem.- it does not any more
I want the area now to show the symbol when I have
received new mail.
I select customize after having right clicked the task
bar and selected properties. Hide inactive items is
ticked.
The function I want currently appears in the "past items"
listing. It has alongside it "hide when inactive". If I
select "always show", the arrows in the notification area
immediately disappear and never come back.
I can only get the arrows back by doing a system restore
from a few weeks ago.
So how do I get past items to appear in current items and
not lose the facility to have them hidden when not
active - ie behind the two arrows.
I have also tried restore defaults and this does nothing.
The only way back is by system restore, and then I hit
the above loop again.
