not working properly displays but will not send receive

Outlook 2003 stopped displaying new info. I reloaded MS office [I could not
find how to do just outlook] and the display started working - but it would
not send and receive. I ran repair [from installation CD] and the check
address within account setup checks out OK says it connects and sends
messages - all ticks - but send/receive will not work and it has now crashed
completely. I cannot see how to un/re install just outlook on its own.

Have you tried removing & readding your mail account(s) here: Control Panel
Mail applet?

I cannot now access outlook - it just goes into not-responding mode as soon
as you try to access anything - clearly it is corrupted and expect it needs
to be reinstalled .. but how?

Is that after dealing with the mail accounts?

You can do a repair from Office CD if necessary

the same. hence my need to uninstall / reinstall

Notice that Vince said to use the Control Panel Mail applet, not Outlook.

I put in a new replacement e-mail account through control panel - but it is
the whole of outlook that will not operate - it no longer gets near
send/receive it just freezes when you touch anything. Is the suggestion that
I delete all e-mail accounts [6] and reinstall through control panel.?

Hmmm, before you un/reinstall try creating a whole new profile in the mail
applet and see if that helps

I'd start with a new mail profile and add everything in with the Mail applet
before ever touching Outlook. I'd also delete the (hidden) file
%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook\outcmd.dat

I've wiped all e-mail data and reentered and started a new profile from
control panel. I have shrunk the outlook.pst file to 1.92 Gb and run scanpst

e-mail accounts ssems to have no effect.

ANSI (i.e., Outlook 97-2002) PSTs can exhibit failures above 1.5GB, but
you're using Outlook 2003, according to your original post and this most
recent post seems to indicate you started with a fresh PST (that's what
"wiped all e-mail data" means to me), so I don't understand how you could
"shrink" a new PST (which is around 256KB) to 1.92GB. I'm missing something
here.

I have misled you - the data I have removed is the email account information
- I am trying to get back to the emails to thin them down - It is Outlook
2003 and the outlook.pst file had got to 2.1Gb which I think was what started
the problem. It is now at 1.93 but still will not run. Should I cut it down
to 1.5 Gb or do I reload Office?

I think you have an ANSI PST and you'll probably have to cut it down
further.
