"not...valid Win32 program"? Then..?

This concerns problems adding older software to new PC
that came with Win XP. After installing QuickVerse 4.0
("QV4") and
trying to start it, QV4 always aborts immediately. The
only info Windows XP supplies is "... not a valid Win32
program." So?? The program ran smooth as butter with
Windows 98. I've tried the XP compatibility mode settings
and nothing makes it run the QV4.

I've tried to uninstall QV4 (to reinstall in different
directory), but the "Remove/Modify Software" program menu
does not see the QV4 as a program to uninstall. I think
this is either because (a) the program is in the root of
the C:\ directory rather than under C:\Programs, or (b)
what appear to be uninstallers in the same directory, also
are "... not a valid Win32 program." (There are 3 or
so "ffastun" files/programs there, but when I try to open
any, first it says "Windows needs to know what program
created them." When I try opening one with Notepad,
the "not valid win32" comes up.)

Any hints, please? Is there a work-around?

Since an earlier posting by you was already answered (QV4 can't be run
under XP), I assume you are asking how to uninstall this program. From
your description, it sounds like a DOS program. If this is true, then
just delete the program folder. If this isn't true, it might be easiest
to do a System Restore to before you installed QV4.
