Not printing from Command Prompt

I have a Windows XP install that has just recently started acting up. The
system will print fine from Windows apps to the LPT1 port but will not print
from the command prompt to the LPT1 port. There is no error message. There
is no indication of an error when I check the port in Hardware Settings. If
I change a setting on the port such as "don't use interrupt" to "use
interrupt" then I can print to LPT1 from the command prompt until the next
time I restart the computer. I have removed the LPT1 port and let Windows
reinstall it. I have upgraded from SP1 to SP2. Has anybody seen this? I
would appreciate any suggestions?

Thanks

The printer is a local printer and is connected directly to the parallel
port. Is is not captured or setup as a network printer.

Dawncam,
The

from the command prompt to the LPT1 port.

you could print to a file first, then print the file by using a Windows app.
You may also want to have a look at Printfil, which can do this
automatically for you.

Kind regards,

Thanks for the suggestion but I'd rather not have to do this. The system is
running AccPac for DOS and requires the ability to print to the LPT port from
this DOS application. The system was printing fine to that same printer
through that same cable from AccPac not 2 weeks ago so I'm assuming that if I
can figure out what was changed, it will continue to do so.
