I post my q's and tried new Q's ,but can't add Questions in the post. All I
get is the main MS page opening up as soon as I want to update the discussion
in the newsgroup... Why? I have been struggling to get any help from MS and
don't know why? I think I'll give up... Email me if you can help with related
problem...

After installing Server2003 spk1 I lost network connectivity. Why?

It's a Active Directory, DHC,P File & Domain server.

I re-installed the network card drv but one note though: I didn’t take note
of the IP (blond?). I gave it a new IP, but the local area connection status
just says "acquiring network address..." instead of "ENABLED". Tried another
switch point and even see a linklight on my NIC. Hardware seems fine (Also
re-installed drv).

--------Any ideas? Why oh why? Please help me. Thanks.

Hi Rob. No Firewall. The server has a static IP yeh. I have made sure that
the IP I am using is not in use by another pc. Performed PING test before I
assigned the IP. Can I remove spk1 or will there be any serious implications,
or do you have another suggestion?

Appreciate the help.-----------------

<<<Message 3>>>

Windows firewall cannot "enable" because of the following error: Error -
Windows firewall cannot run because another program or service is running
that might use the network address translation component "IPNAT.sys) I
don't knoiw what this means? Perhaps this could be causing the problem?

Might be usefull too:
- The network conenction status now says "connected"
- Suspicious Event ID 1110 is in the eventlog (don't know what this means
either?)

Any suggestions.

Thanx again.

any useful replies so far then it's probably because nobody knows
the answer to your question.

You don't need to struggle to get help from Microsoft. All you need
is a telephone and a credit card. If your server is important then you
may have to pay a reasonable fee to get professional advice, same
as you expect to pay for medical or legal advice. If it turns out that
the problem was due to a Windows bug then Microsoft will refund

we need more information to help.

1. If you receive Event ID 1110, you may have Active Directory issue.. what's th description?
2. if you can't enable firewall with "IPNAT.sys" message, the server may have RRAS enabled. Do you have two NICs? The following search result may help.

can't enable windows firewall on rras server ... server - Windows firewall cannot run because another program or service is running that might use the network address translation component (Ipnat.sys) ...
