Not enough server storage is available?

I have two systems, both are desktop computers... one is mapping fine but can
not access the other.
I have all files folders on shared, and have no Norton on the systems, on
either of them. I removed all norton applications from both machines.
Therefore, I can get one computer to map the drive, but not fully access the
contents within. The other one is close to mapping the drive, but the error
which arises is:

"The mapped network drive could not be created because the following error
has occurred: Not enough server storage is available to process this command."

Both systems have sufficient enough of hard drive space, and both are using
Windows XP Professional with SP2... can anyone tell me if I have forgotten
anything on this matter, or can someone advise me on what, or why this is
happening?

Check the IRPStackSize setting on both.

Hi Chuck-

I am a little bit confused, if the computers don't have this command, we
should then - what add it and then reboot and it should work? Or, if it does
have this value it should be set at 11 if it's already? Could that be
possible?

I have checked my computer back at my office here, it has Norton Internet
Security loaded, I did a search in the Registery and found no "IRPStackSize",
could this be the case?

Sorry, about troubling you on this, but this one is very new to me, so I
assume that is why I am discovering this situation to be strange. But, I will
double check things, and if you have any further suggestions on the matter I
am all hears - also I will be in touch again if I discover still more
problems.

Thanks!

Read http://support.microsoft.com/?id=177078 (linked from the page posted
by Chuck). It suggests that you can try adding this value if it doesn't
exist (note under 4.) Read the whole page first, and then follow it
carefully.

i have the same issue. i have a windows 2003 server and about 120 desktop
computers running windows XP with SP2. everytime i try to copy files i get
that error message. sometimes it happens right away and sometimes it takes a
while longer. i have tried the items in that article about irpstacksize and
they do not fix anything for me. i have tried disabling antivirus, and all
other non-essential services and i still got the error. i updated all
drivers and firmware and still no luck. I have searched every where and
found nothing that helped me so far. if anyone finds a fix, please post it.

Is there any resolution ? I am having the same issue on a Windows 2000
server which had previously been able to map a drive on a Windows 2003
server. What is interesting is that the 2003 box can map to a drive on the
2000 box even now.

This "used to" work just fine, for about 2 years. Just recently this error
began, and I can't determine what caused it or if it can be corrected easily.

I have also tried the suggestions of setting the stack size and removing
antivirus software, with no luck.

I don't wish to reinstall the OS, as this box is quite mature and would be a
bear to reinstall.

thanks for the help.

Can=E2=80=99t map drive from Vista to XP.
Vista Business Edition & XP Professional SP2
Network Layout
ISP: Cox Communications
Router: iPAQ Connection Point CP-2W
XP machine (Desktop) is wired into router
Vista (Laptop) is wireless on router. =

What I=E2=80=99ve done so far: Note: If this looks familiar it=E2=80=99s because I u=
sed an existing help request and modified it to specifically explain my problem.
Identical accounts on both machines including passwords
File and printer sharing on both
Turned Password protect sharing OFF on the Vista machine (does not map regardless of=
ON/OFF.
Installed the Link-layer Topology Discovery Responder (on the XP machine)
Subnet and IP's are close to each other
Netbios Over TCP/IP
I=E2=80=99ve shared a folder (and tried other shares with multiple folders) from ea=
ch machine. Also Advanced Share and added the identical user/password to each syste=
m and gave them equal full control.
I can ping the Vista Laptop from the XP machine using the IP and the Laptop=E2=80=99s n=
ame. I can ping the Desktop XP machine using the IP address only. The XP systems name =E2=
=80=9CDesktop=E2=80=9D won=E2=80=99t reply.
____________________________________________
From the XP desktop I can see the vista shares and can down/up load no problem. =

From the vista machine I can see the XP box on the network (view full map) but cannot map=
a drive from the Vista Laptop to the XP Desktop. =

Tried even start-run-\\xpmachine\sharename : nothing
Map network drive- "\\xpmachine\sharename" : nothing =

I=E2=80=99ve also tried increasing the IRPStackSize value in the registry with no l=
uck. When I use the Run command and put in the IP address of my XP system it will show the s=
hared folder but still says =E2=80=9CNot enough server storage is available to proc=
ess this command.=E2=80=9D
I=E2=80=99ve spent nearly eight straight hours trying to resolve this issue and hav=
e been at many forums and have seen similar issue. Nothing seems to work. BTW, both sys=
tems work perfectly independent of each other and have almost pristine new operatin=
g systems.

I am having the same issue, and I uninstalled Norton to begin with. I've
created and increased the IRPStackSize, but still get the same error.
