Not able to view .CHM files

I am not able to view a .CHM file that is stored on a network share. If I
copy it locally, I can view it fine. I am running XP SP2 with the latest
updates as of today, I ran updates yesterday.
Is there something disabled, that would keep me from viewing these types of
files over the network? I should be able to view them, wherever they are
stored.

Thanks,

You may have rights that let you list contents but not execute at that
network location.

There is an issue with one of the updates that was addressed in the
windowsupdate newsgroup. Here's the reply:

"Yes, installing security update MS05-026 on your PC has caused the
problem. The solution is to use "Method 2" described in the following
article to edit the registry on your PC:

Hi,

This is caused by the security update KB896358 (MS05-026: A
vulnerability in HTML Help could allow remote code execution)

Importing the registry file below will solve the problem as long
as your network drive is defined as "Local intranet zone" (it should
be).

Put the following in a .reg file and import it by double clicking on
the file:

--------------------8<----------------------
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions]
"MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000002

--------------------8<----------------------

The setting above will open up for Local Machine zone, Local intranet
zone, and Trusted sites zone.

More about this registry setting here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896358
