Not able to open word documents

Giuseppe

Hello
I have the following problem either with internet explorer 6 and 7 (I
upgraded it on the computer):

I have a compter where there is installed office XP and Openoffice.org 1.9.79.
When I try to open a word document from the web it launches openoffice and
the page gives an error.

I want that when i select a word documet would be launched winword instead
of open office.

I tried disabling the aciveX so_activex.dll but then I have only a blank page.

Thanks
Giuseppe

Probably not a web browser issue (for IE or other browsers)

This is probably a Windows Explorer issue.

Try changing the association by:

Hold the Windows key while typing an e

Find a Word document (with the .doc extension)

Right click the Word document's icon

Hover the mouse pointer over "Open With >" on the resulting context menu

Click "Choose Program..." on the resulting fly out menu.

Make sure "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is
checked.

If Microsoft Word isn't in the list box use the "Browse" button to open
a pop-up that will allow you to locate it.

Select Microsoft Word (exact name may vary depending on version) as the
application to open files with the .doc extension.

Use the OK buttons to make your change take effect.

Thank you for answering my post.
I have tried your solution as the first thing but it did,t work.

I have found a workaround installing the new version of openoffice so now
the word documents are opened by winword on the desktop and by openoffice in
internet.

Thanks again
Giuseppe
