shankay

i reinstalled windows XP on C: drive in my laptop and first time i did with
ntfs. but after rebooting could not access D: drive. it says "drive not
formatted, do you want to format that now". Second time, i did C: drive XP
reinstallation with FAT32 installation, but same problem in D: drive. All my
data is in D: drive and i am not able to access it if i try to click it, i am
getting "drive not formatted do you want to format". i tried some free data
recovery tools available in net, but nothing is detecting the data in D:
partition. It shows as "RAW" fs. In one software called testdisk it shows Bad
MBR and Bad MBR Backup. So not able to do anything. Am absolutely clueless as
to what can be done. I somehow need to retrieve my data from D: drive. Pls
..help

Your D drive was disconnected whilst installing win?
How is it connected to your laptop?
ntfs / fat is not relevent, disconnect your D drive, convert your C drive to
ntfs.
Install drivers from your laptop manu site, or its cd, if you havent
allready done so.
Do NOT use winupdate for drivers.
When you are satisfied your laptop is functioning correctly, then return to
the D drive issue
