Not A Valid Win32 Application

What The??

Question: If I download an executable such as Version 6.0
of .Net IM and attempt to run it I receive an error
message: Example.exe is Not A Valid Win32 Application.
Any ideas?

I have, many times. This is not the only executiable
that I have had this problem with. Any other ideas?

You sure you don't get the same (broken) file from your local internet
temporary files cache?

Otherwise I can't think of anything.

Do you get the same error for all .exe files?
Done a scandisk lately?
Scanned your harddrive for viruses lately?
