AntiSpyware software and Antivirus software are two different animals. You
need both to combat the evils on the web.

In the past year, I've been moving most of my standalone PC and Peer-to-Peer
Networking clients away from Nortons due to some problems I've noted with
NAV in the past couple of years.

I generally recommend PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 and install only the
antivirus portion unless you absolutely need a software firewall (which is
the other part of the PC-cillin Internet Security software suite).

If you want a free antivirus program:

CA's EZ Antivirus (free for 1 year)

AVG Free

Hi Cook,
You want to run both an AntiSpyware and AntiVirus while keeping true to
Windows Updates and keeping the firewall turned on. Don't forget SP2!

As for your choice of programs, use what you feel most comfortable with.
Norton, Panda, Trend come to mind, but not in a particular order.
