Norton Personal Firewall

[DanFXR]

I am running Xp and have Norton Personal Firewall 2001 installed. I want to
remove it and install Zone alarm.
Whenever I try to remove Norton using the uninstall program from norton I
lose my internet connection.The program will not remove with the windows
add/remove feature. The norton website reports that there is no support
available because it is expired. Any ideas on how I can remove it without
loseing my connection?
