Norton Internet security installation

I just tried to install Norton Internet Security on my laptop. It started
the installation process but an error message"
C:\windows\system32\riched32.dll not designed to run on windows or contains
errors" came up and I could proceed no further. I installed the same cd on
my xp pc with no issues. Is there a fix for this or is there an error on
vista. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe the version of NIS you are trying to install isn't supported in Vista.

Best to contact Symantec for help with their products. I gave you several
links in my last post.

Norton takes too much of your comp's resources.
I don't know the latest figures in vista, but, in XP it used to use 1/3 of
the System Resources to run it.

It is a very invasive program.

It was an intrusive program. I have Norton Internet Security
2008 installed, and I can say there is a big difference over
previous versions. Most of the services Norton used are
gone, and the processes are reduced. There is no apparent
slowdown in XP Pro with NIS 2008. Norton 2008 now
caches file info and autoscans files only when they are opened
for the first time, or one time after they have been modified.
As a result, program loading times are the same with Norton
running or disabled. This was not the case with NAV 2007
which did slow the loading times of large applications.
