Norton Internet Security 2005 feedback

Does anyone have any feedback concerning their experiences with Norton
Internet Security 2005? I read some reviews at Amazon.com, and they were
not very favorable.

Your recommendations?

I have used all the Symantec products for years in many PCs. Starting with
their 2004 products they began having problems. Their 2005 products are
plagued with installation and especially uninstallation problems. I purchased
$400 worth of NIS2005 for my PCs. I had a number of problems. After 10 years
of Norton products I was very comfortable with their on-line Knowledge Base
support. But even it was not prepared for the flood of problems during the
past month since the 2005 products have hit the market.
There are many competitive products out there that are more effective, and
less expensive than Norton. I have tried a number in the past month, and am
happiest with ZoneAlarm firewall and Kaspersky anti-virus.
If you are still unsure about Norton just surf some of the different
Forums(XP,security,AV, firewalls, etc) that you can find thru Google or
Yahoo. I learned too late that they are full of complaints about Norton's
2005 products. Good luck.

Dear ezbit,

I appreciated your frank comments. They confirmed my suspicions about
decreasing quality with Norton products.

Thank you.

Thanks, you answered my question too. So I'll trash the norton and go with
the Kapersky...virus protection.

So have I, but since installing Internet security 2005 my computer has had
the blue screen with "Fatal Error" This happens when the scheduled virus
check gets nearly through the scan. The last time it mucked up my registry.
(Good job I had Go Back instaled) Is there anyone out there that can help me?
because there is nothing on the symantec web site that helps. Is there anyone
else that can help me?

Terrible. I had to uninstall Norton, and on trying to reinstall, they claimed
their was no record of the purchase on my email, debit card or address. I
tried to telephone them for help, but the recorded message said i needed a
credit card to pay for the phone assistance. even though I had already paid
for the year long security! in the end i got about 6 months out of it.
terrible, i would advise everybody to avoid Norton at all costs.
