Norton Ghost, Windows XP SP2, NTFS Sony Vaio and boot up problem.

Hello All,

I have a sony vaio VGN-FS690, it had a horrible toshiba 4200rpm hard drive
in it, system was great, but the hard drive was keeping me down. So a friend
gave me a hitachi 7200 notebook hard drive in exchange for my toshiba
notebook hd. We ghosted with a USB cable and converter an image to his
laptops primary drive running windows XP Professional.

No errors generated.

We then reghosted back to my new hitachi drive, again, no problems.

there are 2 partitions, the one with windows is active, the other is a sony
partition with their "help me" utilities. The problem is, after putting the
drive in my notebook, it detects it fine, boots to the windows boot screen,
goes through the boot process right to where it looks like its doing the auto
login feature (I only have xp home on this notebook) it hangs on a blue login
screen with no login options and just a logo with the MicrosoftXP logo next
to it.

If I plug in the old drive, it boots fine.

I plug this one in, gets to this part then just stops.

Any idea's?

I wanted to add, if I boot into safe mode, the same thing happens but later
in the process. Once I boot safe mode, I get to the black desktop with the
label at the top tell me the version number, but before it pops up the usual
question box and drops you to the full desktop with explorer task bar
running, it goes to that same colored blue screen login page with the logo
and MicrosoftXP logo at which point the system stops.
