Norton Ghost problem - no help from Symantec

Hi, I recently installed Norton Ghost 2003 on my laptop (win2k, sp3, all
hotfixes installed). It ran just fine the first time I used it - made an
image and everything. I ran it again yesterday to make a new image and it
wigged out on me. It tried to launch the windows installer, which failed,
reported an error message which flashed on and off so fast I couldn't
read it, then tried to launch the windows installer again. Over and over.
The only way I could stop it was to kill it from task manager. I tried
uninstalling and reinstalling Ghost but the problem remained.

Since I originally installed Ghost I have added these MS updates:
DirectX 9.0b (from 9.0a)
Root certificates update
822831
819696
817606
822679
823559
And the patch for Blaster.

Would any of these updates have a detrimental effect on Ghost? Seems odd.
Of course I have tried to contact symantec but their support services
bite.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The only apps I found of any worth lately by Symantec are their anti-virus &
WinDoctor utilities.
Have you not discovered how difficult it is to communicate with Symantec?
It's surely by design. Symantec 'support' is a broken crutch.
