Norton Firewall

When I installed and launched Norton Firewall, I had
problems with the start up (or First run). The icons in
the bottom RH corner would take about 30 seconds to
appear; Internet Explorer would take about 30 seconds to
connect and the pages of any web site would be
unavailable. After uninstalling the Firewall (but not
deleting it), the system has worked normally. Does
anybody know why this should be so, and can I be secure
without the firewall?

You really need a firewall these days.
open your norton firewall and be sure that internet
explorer is set to allow access to the internet via
nortons "internet access control"
