Norton Antivirus 2007

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help with some issues I have with Norton.

First, it is correctly installed and working on the administrators section
of the computer, but for anyone with limited access it says there is a
subscription problem. Does anyone know how to fix this? I contacted Norton
and they said it was a windows issue.

Also, when I had Norton 2006 weekly scans were sufficient, now every few
days the ! sign comes up and says I need a Virus and Spyware scan, is this
normal/how do you set automatic quick scans?

Thanks for your time.

Uninstall Norton, get a refund, and get a better product (NOT MacAfee), your
problems are just getting started, AVG and Avast come to mind as good (and
free) replacements.

Are you sure the notice is coming from Norton? It sounds as though you
may have picked up one of the Smitfraud variants and it has possibly
broken your Norton.

Take a look here and go through at least some of the malware removal steps.

If the notice is not coming from Norton (which means that it is
malware), see if removal instructions for the specific program are here:

If the machine is clean, uninstall Norton completely and replace it with
a better, less invasive program such as NOD32, Kaspersky, or Avast
(free). The Windows Firewall is adequate for most people.

The message is a Norton one as it is in the Norton message box. On the
limited access one it won't allow installing.

I believe there is a Windows configuration which should fix this but I'm not
sure what it is.

Sorry, can't help you with Norton since I wouldn't have any of them on
my machines. Maybe something here will help:
