Legallisa - switching from WordPerfect

I think I need to delete and have Word (2007) reinstall the normal.dot (or
whatever it is called). Sometimes when I use the shortcut on the desktop
Word will start to open then close. When I try opening it from
start-programs the same thing happens. After I reboot it will open.

I have customized my ribbon quite a bit. Will I lose that customization?
Will I lose the macros I've created?

If you rename normal.dotm to normal.dotm.old, Word will create a new one and
most customisations stored in the old one will be retained in the old one
and can be recovered using the organizer. Word 2007, however, stores
information in a variety of places.
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Customize_Ribbon.htm explains how custom ribbons
are stored and the QAT (Quick Access Toolbar) is saved as a file Word.qat
in the user file area of Windows ie
C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\OFFICE
in Vista it is at
C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\
