Non-windows software updates hang

I have tried to download and install softwre updates for several non-wimdpws
softwre programs, from games to Turbo Tax. The update all download properly,
but the updates never actually run. I hand another XP computer that works
fine - both are running XP-SP2. I've compared the Security Center setting on
both machines and they are identical. Any other suggestions?

Perhaps a third-party firewall, antivirus, or antispyware program
is preventing the installation of updates. Try disabling those after
downloading the updates and after disconnecting from the internet.
