Hi, I was browsing for some new video cards over here in Korea, and I
found this strange phenomenon. Some companies are advertising 6600
cards that are both sli-capable and non-GT. I thought that was weird
because I thought only 6600GT cards were sli capable.

Anyhow, I was wondering if anybody knew anything about this. The prices
are pretty good and I was considering buying a couple if they were for
real.

Here are some links, but you'll need Korean fonts to not get garbage.
But, if you look at the photos and scan the text briefly, you'll see
that they have the sli interface, and aren't 6600 GT cards.

Anyways, just wondering if anybody knows anything about this...

Nvidia lists the vanilla 6600 (non-GT) as SLI-compatible:

However, for the performance, I'd stick with the GT model. Check out these
benchmarks:

Nearly twice the performance for the GT model, especially at higher
resolutions. Also, unless your eyes can perceive framerates above 60+ fps,
the SLI option would probably be best left as an upgrade option, for my
money at least. In other words, I'd get an SLI-ready motherboard, outfit it
with only one card for now and then upgrade to two cards in a year or two.
