non administrator can't view https sites

Nathan

Hi,

I have a Windows XP SP1 machine.

When a user logs on who is not an administrator he can't view HTTPS pages
but he can view all other HTTP pages.

When an administator logs on he can view HTTPS and HTTP pages.

We run through a proxy but that isn't the problem because this user can log
on elsewhere and not have the same problem.

We have followed various web sites that say clear the SSL cache and make
sure SSL and TLS are enabled in the options (and they are).

Does anyone else have an idea why this user can't view HTTPS sites when not
logged on with administrator privileges.

TIA

Nathan

I had this problem too.... I hope you are still following this thread.
I have noticed TOO often lately that the interesting (challenging)
problems get dropped by the "experts" when they have nothing to say
(when the going gets tough...?????)

solution was to give "domain users" read access to the jwscript.dll
file in "doc & settings\administrator\windows" directory.....

good luck...

Scott,

in defense of the "experts"---some problems are impossible to
solve via newsgroup messages. And, of course, even the experts
don't know everything.

And some problems are caused by uncommon events, like the user
changing something without understanding what he's doing or
installing some piece of software that bungles up something
else.

Of course, when an expert doesn't know a solution and doesn't
even have a good guess, he will not write anything.

This support stuff is very difficult at times.
