No Video output on a projector when playing DVD movies using my laptop

I have my laptop attached to the projector. Normally when
I play a downloaded mp3 video, the laptop displays the
video out to the projector. However when I play a dvd
using either Real one or Windows media player, it does not
display as an output on the screen "projector". I am open
for any suggestions.

A common problem, explained here by
the Sharp support folks:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Video displayed in Windows Media Player or a
browser window will show up on my PC's LCD
but shows as a black box on my external s-video
device (TV/projector). The rest of the desktop will
show on the s-video device.

Windows Media Player and many other Media Players
may only display on the output chosen as the PRIMARY
device in the display properties (depending on the video
codec). If you see a video playing on your PC's LCD
screen but just a black box in the media window through
the s-video output, change the s-video output to PRIMARY
and your PC's LCD to secondary in the display properties.
