No upgrade option in XP?

Now that I have 2K reinstalled, I am back to the problem of not being able to
upgrade to XP. The last time I tried to upgrade to XP, I booted from the XP
CD and was NOT given the option to upgrade. So, I chose the option "Leave the
current file system intact (no changes)," thinking that it would be an
upgrade. Instead, XP was installed on the same partition as 2K. Yes, I had
two OSs one one partition. So, I ended up having to delete the whole
partition.

I also tried to install XP by booting to 2K first and then inserting the CD,
but upgrading that way is not supported.

My question is: How do I perform an upgrade from 2k to XP without the
Upgrade option available.

Thanks!!

I Is your XP an OEM version? I say this because I bought an OEM version of
XP/PE (with a piece of kit) , which I thought would upgrade my XP/HE (full
version) set-up, but it too didn't give an upgrade option and I had to return
the XP/PE disc for a refund.

No, it's the standard XP Pro 2002. Thanks.

In order to upgrade from Windows 2000 to Windows XP,
you need a "Retail Upgrade" or "Retail Full Version" of
Windows XP Professional. You cannot upgrade using
Windows XP Home Edition from Windows 2000.

Dixonian69? You again? On page four of this post, you couldn't understand
simple details about what I had done nor the trouble I was having. Your
replies were useless and kind of cocky! Another user corrected the problem
for me. And now, you have some solutions for my new problem, which, by the
way, are also useless. Not only that, but you had to look them up and copy
and paste them. Fdisk worked fine for me! No more useless advice from you,
thanks.

I don't see anyone suggesting chkdsk!!
Your Question was "My question is: How do I perform an upgrade from 2k to XP
without the Upgrade option available".

So you got the expected responses!!

So you figured it out yourself!!
That's what I'm' suggesting.

pat yourself on the back or high five.
