No Transport Provider...

Server is Exchng2000 SP3, clients are Win200 Pro SP3
Outlook 2000 SP3.

Some not all my clients get the "No Transport Provider
available" when sending internal or external mail. they
are configured for "Corporate and Workgroup" and VPN for
there e-mail. They create a local .pst file and have the
mail delivered to the Personal Folder. Eventually some
start recieving the " No Transport Provider" error
message.

I have them change the delivery to the "Mailbox -
username" server folder, and then they can send mail with
no errors. When we toggle the delivery from PST to Server
location, 33% of the time it will correct the error and
they can use delivery to the .PST.

Lately we've tried toggling and creating new .PST files
and still get the same error.

Is there a fix for this error?? I do not believe Outlook
2002 or 2003 have this problem. But we have a $$$ problem
to upgrade for something that should already work.

Exchange is not my strong point but I believe this problem is one reason why
Microsoft doesn't support having Exchange and POP accounts in the same
profile in Outlook 2000 :) The best solution would be for your users to
create a second profile and move the POP3 accounts to that profile, and
remove them from the Exchange profile.
