No sound whatsoever

I have an Averatec laptop 3270, and the sound card appears to be "VIA AC'97
Enhanced Audio Controller" according to the device manager. Running RC1
build 5600 I have absolutely no sound whatsoever. XP SP2 has sound just
fine. No drivers seem to be available (in fact, Averatec gets a little
shirty when you ask). Any thoughts or suggestions? Some similar sort of
driver? Some way to fool Vista into working like XP with my audio?

I had the same problem. I ended up finding the hardware in the system
hardware list and going to it's properties. I was able to install the
drivers and activate the hardware from that point.
