No Sound on digital camera videos

I recorded many video clips on my Olympus SP-500UZ digital camera. According
to the instructions sound is automatically turned on in the video mode. The
Olumpus creates MOV files which I converted to AVI files using the RAD tools.
I then imported them into WMM but there is no sound and no sound track
appears in the storyboard/timeline.

I am not sure that the sound even recorded. Is there any way to check either
the raw footage or the converted files to see if I even have sound?

Further, if I find thereis sound on the raw footage, I would assume that the
reason it doesn't show is because of a missing codec. How do I determine what
codec is needed?

Thanks

Just to add.
AVI can be one of over 800 file types adn I suspect rad made a compressed
one like divx, rather than dv.avi which will work with MM.
I always tend to suggest people convert to wmv which should work ok.

John -- Thanks again for the response. but how do I get the clips back in the
camera? Seems sorta like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube after its
been squeezed out.

Graham -- Thanks also for your response. Can you tell me how to convert MOV
files to WMV. I did not see that option on my conversion programs.
