No sound in headphones

My problem is that there is no audio from the headphones jack port on the cd
player.
I've tried to configure the audio cd digital setting to analog but it didn't
help as i found out that the cd player transmits digital data and the
headphones jack works with analog.
Any help appreciated!

Do you have a cable attached between your sound card and the analog input of
your CD drive? (This presumes that your sound card has an analog output.)

I had a similar problem. It turned out the headphone jack will only work
with WMP audio files, and I had to configure the audio digital CD setting to
do that (but I forget whether analog or digital needed enabling).

So try listening to .wma, Windows Media Player files and see if that helps ?

Thanks for your replies!
But i don't know if my sound card is analog or not and have not tried to see
if i have cable attached as i am not that technical. Thought it could be some
sort of setting that could be done.
To answer pflueger as far as i'm concerned the digital output box has to be
unchecked for the cd jack to work and also some other configuration in WMP
tools.
Any more help would be greatly appreciated!

Electronic devices don't work if they're not plugged in, so you'll either
have to open the case and have a look or get someone else to do it for you.

While you have the case open, take the opportunity to blow out the dust and
debris inside. You'll be saving yourself from trouble down the road.

This type of hardware can have proprietary quirks that one can only scratch
his head about. In my case, who would have thought a headphone would only
work with .wma? So it might turn out you need to call the manufacturer and
ask tech support.

Sorry I can't help you more than that.

Thanks for your support guys. I wil see to it later on as now i am using my
headphones plugged into the speakers jack which is just the same. But it
really bothers me when i know that something is not in order.
Thanks again!

That audio jack on most CD drive is only for analog audio and not for any
other sound. If you have configured the CD drive to play "digital" sounds,
then you will not be able to use it. Also, more newer drives do not even
have a audio jack on the CD/DVD unit anymore.

You can find a switch which would let you connect the standard speaker and
the headset to the sound card "speaker out" connection. By pressing the
button on the switch, the sound will come out on your speakers or headset.
