no sound from speakers

I have a set of plug and play speakers that all of a sudden wont put out any
sound. I've tried all of the troubleshooting steps. I also went and bought
another pair of speakers to make sure it wasnt the spaekers. please help

Assuming you have tried the troubleshooter built into Windows, what
information do you think would be useful to us to help figure out what's

Just yesterday I went over to a friend's house to check out her
computer. She complained that the speakers were not working
and that two people had looked at it and not found a problem.
I examined the back of the computer and surreptitiously moved
the green speaker jack from the blue port to the green port.
Shortly thereafter she noticed that sound was coming from her
speakers. She thought I had some kind of magic that I could
just walk into a room and the speakers started working...

if you are new to windows xp, you must go and add your sound card...have you
done this kim? let me know what you did...i am reinstalling mine now...have
no sound as i type...and wish to tell you it is VERY EASY dear...i have done
this many times...if you need help...please reply to this...ok? have a
