Upgraded from win98 to winxp. Now I have no sound! Used
Asus motherboard CD to install c-media audio driver, but
now computer says I have no audio chip! Sound was working
fine before upgrade. How do I fix this problem?

Hi there!

There are a couple of things you can try to do.

Firstly, right-click on My Computer and then click on
Properties to open System Properties. Click on the
Hardware tab, then on the Device Manager button. Look
under Sound devices to see if there is anything listed
there. If there is, try removing the items and restarting
the machine.

You can also try connecting to Windows Update to see if
there are any driver updates for your computer.

Lastly, go into your computer's BIOS and check that your
on-board sound card is enabled.

Hope one of these helps!

Kind regards,
Dillon
