No proxy login for anti-spyware updates

I'm using the Anti-Spyware beta on a couple of my office
machines that connect to the internet via a proxy that
requires a login. My login is cached on each machine, but
since the MS anti-spyware install I randomly get a login
popup, presumably whenever the beta checks for an update.
Usually two or three times per day, and usually while I'm
not working at my machine.

It would be nice if your proxy setup allowed me to enter
my login information so the product knows how to get to
the internet by itself, without my intervention.
(Symantec live-update does this.) I think my company's
proxy is the MS inet proxy server.

Thanks.

Open a command prompt window, and type the command:

proxycfg -?

to find out about proxycfg. I think you should try:

proxycfg -u

to transfer your MSIE settings into WinHTTP. See if that fixes the problem
for you. Do let us know!

Robin ---
Thanks for the suggestion, I wasn't aware of the proxycfg
tool. Unfortunately this is not the problem.

Our IT department has configured the proxy to require a
login whenever I connect as part of their usage
monitoring. (To discourage users who might think they're
anonymous, I guess. Or maybe they're tracking logins.
Whatever.) So when I open IE I'm asked to log-in as well.
It's not too annoying when I'm launching a specific
program, but it becomes bothersome and suspicious when I'm
asked to login when I'm not doing anything that requires a
login. (For example, while I'm typing a document using
Word and a login popup appears...)

When I receive an unsolicited login request I begin to
suspect that a program I don't want running is executing
on my system. In this case, it's MS Anti-Spyware...

As I said, Symantec has a very nice (and optional) proxy
login included in their product for Live Update. Since
this program DOES have business touching the internet to
automatically update, I thought it would be nice if it
didn't require a manual intevention on my part to
accomplish this.

(And frankly, if I had an automatic login as part of the
IE proxy settings I'd be using that too...)

Thanks again for your quick reply.
