no modem volume

I have a machine with a software modem (a.k.a. Winmodem) that used to
work fine. It still works, but I get no volume after a reinstall of
windows on the machine. I have checked the volume settings for the
modem under control panel and it is all the way up. I cannot figure out
what the problem might be. Can anyone help? It is a connexant modem on
a gateway computer. The modem is built in -- i.e. not on a PCI card,
but on the motherboard.

Thanks,
Chris

You may have the sound turned off somewhere else:
-- Open the full panel view for Volume Controls and use the menu to place
the modem onto the main panel. Check that Mute is not checked and adjust
the sound level if necessary.

--If you use AOL or other ISP software, may want to check their menus for
modem volume levels too.

There is sound on the computer -- from games, etc. The volume controls
aren't muted. This is the standard dialer, not AOL or MSN.

Hi,

In the Device Manager check to see if you have a modem.wav or something
similar listed under Sound, video...... I don't have dial-up anymore but do
remember that, that needed to be listed. It would be included within your
install disk for your modem.
