No longer able to access applications

Since installing the new Antispyware Beta on a friends
computer. When prompted to allow or block they some how
blocked access to many programs in C: even blocking the
ability to access Antispyware. In turn I am not even
able to restore what was deleted even if I knew how?
Some how they have lost the ability to use almost all of
their desktop shortcuts. When attempting to access
programs receive message cannot locate path or file name
C;\Documents and settings etc, verify libraries
correct? please help!

I dont think the program can do that. You might have a
virus

Actually, the program can and will do that ... apparently not to everyone.
It happened to me (see message on this newsgroup titled Problem with OS
(W2KServer))

Hey thanks, Problem with OS message didn't seem to have a
happy ending. Did you ever reinstall & repair
applications using the CD?
