No Internet connection after idle time

HI,
I connect though a network card to my cable modem. Connection is great as
long as I use the computer every hour or so. If it sits idle for more than 2
hours and I click on Internet explorer I get page not available message. If
I click on Outlook I get can't find server message. If I reboot everything
works fine. What can I do (other than using the machine every hour) to be
able to get on line without the reboot? Is there some "time out" setting I
can change? Seems to happen with about the same amount of idle time.

This isn't a fix, but it's a work around. If you disable/reenable your
network connection, that should start your internet connection back up
and save you a reboot.

You might check in device manager..right click you NIC and on the power
management tab make sure allow the computer to turn off this device is not
checked.

Thanks for the reply. I have been going to Local Network Connection and
under the support tab click repair. This seems to restore the connection but
I would just like it to work without having to mess around with it.. The
wife tries to use the same machine and is even less computer literate than
me so she just gets real aggravated she can't get her mail.
