No File and Folder task pane

On a new XP machine, there is no File and Folder Task pane available. Only a
folders pane if one selects that option, otherwise nothing to the left in
the window.

How can one restore the Task pane, please?

Hi Bengt,

In the Folder Options General tab, enable "Show common tasks in folders". Note that this option will be unavailable if the Classic Shell policy is enforced via Group Policy Editor or via registry.
