No events in XP Security log

I never get any events logged in my Security log (WinXP Pro SP1).

I reckon I should see something there because I have read that the
security log records events such as ...

"valid and invalid logon attempts, as well as events
related to resource use such as creating, opening, or
deleting files or other objects."

How do I get these sort of events logged?

You need to enable auditing using audit policy in Local Security Policy
(SecPol.msc).
