No DVD play after upgrade from ME to XP

After the upgrade I performed the following:

Purchased XP compatible decoder from Intervideo;
Updated drivers for Nvidia GeForce Video and Voyetra
Turtle Beach audio;
Reinstalled WMP and RealPlayer;
Installed Windows updates for XP, WMP, DirectX;
Exhausted the XP DVD troubleshooter guide;

DVDs still won't play on WMP, WinDVD, or RealAudio even
though they used to before the upgrade to XP! CDs play
fine; one DVDs displays the "FBI warning" banner at the
beginning of the DVD, but none get to the title menu or
the movie itself; all the players recognize the title of
the DVD, but I just get blank screens and no sound.

What should I try next?

Try reinstalling winDVD

I tried this and I still can't play DVDs . . . any other
suggestions?
