No drives show in My Computer

Ray Parrish

Hello,

I am having a problem which I can't seem to solve. A while back when I
opened My Computer it started with a blank page where the drives and
control panel should be showing.

I can still access the drives by opening the drop down list of drives in
My Computer, but none of them show on the page where they should be.

Also, some other programs are not able to see the drives in their File,
Open or File, Save dialogs. All they can see is the Desktop folder and a
few folders under it.

I'm running Windows XP SP2 on an E machine T3410.

This is very annoying, does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Thanks, Ray Parrish

I tried that and still no joy. I can access all of the drives, I just
can't see them on the very first page of My Computer. Very strange.

The drives aren't hidden at all, I can access them by using the drop
down list and once one is selected there My Computer shows the folders
and files normally.

Any other ideas?

Thanks, Ray Parrish

Ray,

Sorry, no other ideas. Perhaps there are more network drives present, and thus My Computer is taking its time to show the drive contents?

There are no network drives, I just have the one internal drive
partitioned up into logical drives.

There has to be a setting somewhere that controls this behavior. Just
need to figure out what it is.
