No display, after installing SP2

Hi,

One of my users, installed SP2 and left it running overnight. He came
back this morning and his monitor light was just flashing....

He moved his keyboard and mouse and still no display, made sure
everything was plugged in properly and still no display. So then he
turned off his PC and turned it back on and the PC looked like it
turned on fine but nothing appeared on the screen.

The keyboard lights didn't flash up as they usually do when you boot
up, and still no display on the screen....

To me it looks like the drivers are lost when SP2 installed, is this a
known issue?

Has anyone have any idea how to solve this as i can't see anything so
don't know where to start to resolve it?

Ran into the exact same issue - installed sp2 and left runnning overnight. I
see the Windows screen, but then the display goes blank.

Did you reboot the computer?
Otherwise reboot to Safe mode and then install the latest video drivers from
your video card/computer manufacturer.

Actually, even when I boot into safe mode it does the same thing - completely
blank. I do know however that windows does start because I can hear the 'pop'
sound that lets you know that new hardware or updates have been installed.
Also - not sure if this makes a difference - I'm working on a Panasonic
Toughbook Laptop and I tried to use an external monitor and that still didn't
work...

Does the laptop have a key to switch between monitor and screen?
Check your BIOS settings.
The fact you get similar in Safe Mode points to both of those.
Have you contacted Panasonic or checked their website for a possible
solution?
