No Dell printer in 'new printer wizard'

Just set dual boot, 2 HD's, new HD with new oem xp pro; orig. HD with xp home
& been using the dell printer for a long time. New xp pro OS won't recognize
the printer. Driver downloaded from Dell into my doc. when i go to control
panel>printers>'add a printer', the wizard, does not locate the printer>
manually the box listing many printers does not include dell printers? I'm
stuck, please help if you can.
