Last August, I posted a request here asking for help in restoring the cursor
to my Google query line. It no longer appeared on entering the screen, and I
had to click on the query line to get it and be able to enter search criteria.
Unfortunately I got no help, and have been troubleshooting the problem on my
own ever since off and on. Today, I am happy to announce I have discovered
the cause of this small but annoying nuisance. Somehow Windows had tagged
google.com as a restricted site. Why, I have no idea. I certainly wouldn’t
have made it so, trusting the site implicitly. Could there be some pesky
malware out there trying to make trouble for Google by making the site less
friendly for Windows users?
